From Richland, WA | Born in Richland, WA
Teresa Brighton
Teresa Elaine Brighton
April 10, 1955 – December 22, 2017
Teresa passed away Friday December 22nd, 2017 with her brother Michael at her side. Typical of the life she led her last conversation was of family, friends and her beloved dog Bobby. Teresa was always a caring person and gave her time and possessions freely to bring happiness to others. Material items were never important to Teresa; she loved the outdoors, fishing, hiking with sisters and friends, playing bunko with the “girls” and the daily walks with Bobby.
Teresa was born in Richland, WA and moved shortly after to Toledo, OH with family. After a short stay there the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she spent her elementary school days and then on to Concord, CA for Junior High before returning to Richland. Teresa graduated from Richland High School in 1973 and considered this her home.
Teresa was employed at the Hanford Reservation where she worked for almost 40 years as a Nuclear Chemical Operator and a member of the Hanford Atomic Metal Trades Council. One of her great achievements was always pulling her own weight to get the job done no matter the task. Whether she was working next to a laborer, a pipefitter or fellow operator she built strong relationships with co-workers and gained their respect as a person, and co-worker as evidenced by the support and lasting friendships maintained after her retirement.
Teresa is survived by her nine siblings: Kathleen Williams – Tucson, AZ, Lawrence Brighton Jr. (Kathy) – Redding, CA, Mary Borrelli – Oakland, CA, Barbara Kelly (Jay) – Santa Rosa, CA, Carol Brighton (Joel) – Berkeley, CA, Patricia Sexauer (Roland) - Martinez, CA, Michael Brighton – Richland, WA, Monica Cassidy (Mike) - Issaquah, WA, James Brighton – San Francisco, CA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in her passing by her parents Doris C. Brighton and Lawrence T. Brighton who she loved with all of her heart. Teresa learned many things from Mom and Dad including the gift of caring and placing others needs in front of her own.
Teresa was truly an angel of earth and will be greatly missed by all that she touched.
There will be a celebration of Teresa’s life on: Saturday January 20th, 2017 from 11:00 to 1:00 at Sunset Gardens Event Center, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, WA
In lieu of flowers you may make donations for Teresa to: Tri-Cities Animal Shelter or the Benton Franklin Humane Society
Brighton family –
SO sorry for your loss. To make it 40 years at Hanford and be able to retire says s lot about Teresa. My prayers are with you.
Sorry for the loss of your beautiful sister. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Teresa’s was a pretty amazing lady! Her work ethic was off the charts and she never shied away from doing the jobs that others tried hard to avoid. She was a mentor to many new Operators. Teresa will be missed by many. Rest In Peace T.
Our deepest sympathies for the loss of your beloved Teresa. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family.
We will miss you and your adventurous, generous spirit, Teresa! Rest In Peace, dear Teresa.
I will forever have nothing but the fondest of memories regarding this strong and wonderful human being! She, along with Pete Peterson (RIP), working at the UO3 plant in West Area, sent a young janitor down a path that has led to so many wonderful memories I can’t begin to express how much she has meant to me over the years.
My sincere condolences to the entire Brighton family and vast Circle of Friends Teresa’s life has touched…she will be missed and cherished for all time; RIP T.
Very sorry for your loss. Teresa was a great gal, we had lots of fun working together at UO3 plant and the west tank farms. She was a very smart, hardworking person with a great sense of humor. Lots of fun together fishing off Vancouver Island, campfires at my old cabin outside of Dayton and river walks. Her work ethic was something to behold. She will be greatly missed. Many prayers for you all as her family. I will not be able to attend her memorial but will remember her with prayers and great fondness.
My deepest sympathy!! My prayers will be with your family. Sincerely Tammy
I will always remember Teresa as a beautiful, super determined, kind spirited, long time friend. We were just in our teens when we met. An appropriate verse from a song I know, “Your ways were free and it seemed to me the sunshine walked beside you.” I will always keep you in my heart!
I have many fond memories of working at UO3 with Teresa.. This saddens me very much to say goodbye to such a wonderful gal… RIP. I won’t be able to celebrate with others but you are in a good place my Friend
RIP
Rest in Peace Teresa.
I am deeply saddened by the news of Teresa s passing! I pray that your family can feel the love and sympathies that so many are sending your way. The world will be a lonelier place without your smile.
Rest In Peace Teresa
You will be missed.
Please accept our condolences on the loss of your sister and friend.

She was a beautiful, vivacious soul. Heaven is rejoicing to have her!
I met Teresa in my High School days at Richland High. Loved her smile, her beautiful eyes, and personality. I am so saddened to hear about her passing and cannot even to find the words … my heart goes out to her family. Mike and Monica, please know you are in my prayers along with the rest of the family. She was a lovely human being and will be great missed.
She will Truly be missed.
I will always remember Teresa as a funny, quick witted person…someone I always respected and admired. We went to Hawaii together many years ago, and had so much fun… I ‘m grateful for that memory of her.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
