Marian Fichter

Marian E. Fichter, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her home in Richland, WA surrounded by her family.

Marian is survived by her sister, Harriet Fichter of Lynwood, WA, her husband Vern Fichter, her children Barbara and Roger, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Marian was born in Sidney, Iowa on July 26, 1927 to W. Lee & Anna Crose.  She graduated from Sidney High School in 1944 and moved to Richland, WA in 1948 with her sister Harriet and brother-in-law Ivan.  Marian and Vern were the first couple married in the newly built Northwest United Protestant Church on June 1, 1951. They were a large part of their church community for over 65 years enjoying singing in the choir as well as serving on the church board of directors.

Marian worked at SeaFirst Bank until she became a devoted mother and homemaker for her family.  Marian enjoyed having her immediate and extended family over for family, dinners, reunions and other occasions where she would cook good-old-fashioned meals for all to enjoy.  Marian also enjoyed gardening, playing piano, mind-challenging puzzle books, and game shows, including Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.  She sang for many years in a women’s vocal trio with her close friends Erma Rolph & Eileen Ward, often accompanied by her sister, Harriet Fichter.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 4:00pm at Northwest United Protestant Church at 1315 Wright Ave, in Richland.  There will be a potluck to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Chaplaincy Hospice Care, Tri-Cities Cancer Center or the NW United Protestant Church Memorial Fund.
