Thomas Bruce McVeigh
Thom was born in Pateros, WA on May 16, 1937 to Richard and Betty McVeigh and passed away on January 1, 2018 in Richland, WA.
Thom married Sandra in August 22, 1970 at the Dayton Court House in Washington State. They enjoyed a lifetime of adventures from local rivers to Maui, Hells Canyon, Alaska and all points in between. He was a dedicated husband until the very end.
Thom started his working career as a paper boy to earn money for a 5¢ Sunday movie. He delivered mail in Seattle before moving to the Tri-Cities. His greatest accomplishment was working at Valmont N.W. Inc. He valued his clients and his best deals were worked out on a napkin at Jack Didley’s, his favorite lunch spot. He took great pride in showing us the projects he designed and in helping clients meet their farming goals. Thom was known for his strong work ethics, his quick wit and his matter of fact demeanor.
Thom loved playing his bass guitar and singing and played in several bands. He was an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing and camping. His favorite places to visit were Hells Canyon and Maui in that order. Thom always enjoyed Vegas and a good Poker game. He recently enjoyed the N.W. casinos with Sandy, Carrie and Dan tagging along. He loved his 45 years on the farm in Finley with Sandy and the neighborhood will never be the same without him.
Thom is survived by his wife Sandra , sons; Kurt (Sherrie) McVeigh, William (friend Rachael) McVeigh, daughters; Carrie (Dan) McVeigh-Crow, Dana (Greg) Brunsdon, Jennifer (Izale) Kruse, grandchildren; Heather Combs, Monica Combs, Matt McVeigh, Aleesha McVeigh, Noah Steves and McKinzy Kruse as well as many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Corinne and Harold and grandson A.J. Steves.
Services will be held on January 13, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Living Room Church, 1409 S. Garfield, Kennewick, WA.
