Hugh Price

Hugh Mackay Price, age 77, of Richland died February 1st 2018 at Kadlec Hospital.  Hugh was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents Francis and Alma (Mackay) Price.  Shortly after Hugh’s birth, the Price family moved to Spokane WA, where Hugh spent his childhood and adolescence.  Following in his father’s footsteps, Hugh became a pipefitter shortly out of high school and worked on large scale power plant projects such as the Grand Coulee Dam.  After 20 years in the trades, Hugh returned to college at age 45 to earn a degree in Project Management.  He continued his career out in the Hanford area until he retired at age 72.   Hugh enjoyed the opportunity to work and travel overseas, spending time in such places as Saudi Arabia, Greece, Egypt, Africa, and Scotland, sharing many of his travel and work experiences in stories with his family and anyone else who would listen.   Hugh married Aldeana (Heintz) Price in August of 2012 and instantly gained 4 daughters, sons in law, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Hugh is survived by his wife Aldeana, daughters Raeann (Morse) Clark, Rhonda (Melvin) Schell, Renee (Matt) Thompson, Ruth (Kevin) Heintz Jenkins.  Grandkids Rachel, Melissa, Austin, Ryan, Madison, Olivia, Garrett, Ashelyn, Kevin JR, Dominick, Jacklynn, and Johnessa.  Great Grandkids Alex, Ethan, Morgan, and Sebastian. Hugh, the oldest of four children, is also survived by his brothers Frank Price (Kirkland WA), Michael Price (Waikoloa, HI) and Patty Bush (Bothell, WA) and their families.

Hugh loved to read, follow his favorite sports teams, and was a lifelong learner who developed hobbies from an early age including stamp collecting, fishing, photography, woodworking, and was an avid trap shooter, traveling to shoots all over the country. He took great pride in the accomplishments of each of his family members, helping and encouraging each youngster to work hard, pay attention to the world around them, and to take advantage of opportunities given them.

Hugh was a big guy but what was bigger than his 6-foot 7-inch frame was his heart.  He loved to donate too many charities in the area including Bikes for Tykes sponsored by the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 598, local food banks, as well as purchasing hundreds of winter hats and gloves to give to area school children.  Hugh will be greatly missed by his family and those that knew him.
