Patrick Robinson
Patrick Neal Robinson
Pat was born in Pasco, Washington on 11/20/1947 to George & Eleanor Robinson and passed away 1/31/2018 due to an accident while installing a new roof.
Pat grew up and lived in Burbank, Washington until his marriage to Pinny Wirtz of Burbank in 1968, this year to have been their 50th wedding anniversary.
Pat encouraged and protected those around him, especially his wife and sons.
Pat played all three sports of football, basketball and baseball and was good at all three.
Graduating from Columbia High School in Burbank in 1966, Pat enrolled at Eastern Washington State College in Cheney, WA working towards a degree in education, eventually receiving his Masters In Education.
Through the efforts of his older brother, Russ, Pat worked weekends and summers as a switchman/brakeman for the Northern Pacific Railroad in Pasco until 1969 and then worked for the White Pass & Yukon Railroad out of Skagway, Alaska as a brakeman.
Returning to the Tri-Cities in 1971, Pat got his real estate license, joining his brother, Mike. In 1974, he teamed with Mike and friends Glen Clark and Jack Matheson in forming The Great Rocky Mountain & Pacific Real Estate Company, which still survives to this day.
Pat’s heart had always been towards working with kids, especially in education. Starting out in the Pasco School System, he then moved to Kennewick to Horse Heaven’s Middle School where he finished his teaching career at the end of school in 2016.
Pat loved hunting and fishing, especially with his three sons where they could make a great daily wage from the $5 bounty on Squawfish.
While he could do well while fishing alone, he was known by the nickname given to him by his father-in-law, Stan Wirtz…HooDoo.
As in, per Stan, “We could be having 15 pound salmon jumping into our boats until Pat arrived and put his ‘HooDoo’ on the fishing. Then everything stopped and we might as well move on up or down the river ‘cause nothing more was going to happen here.”
Refereeing basketball and umpiring baseball was part of Pat’s passion.
He worked with his sons in the business his Dad started back in the 1930s, The Robinson Roofing Company.
Teaching for sure…and foremost, Pat received the Golden Apple Teacher of The Year Award and also received a Teacher’s Recognition Award in 2004.
The biggest reward in Pat’s life was his wife and raising his sons.
Pat deeply loved his brothers, Mike & Russ, and his sisters, Margie and Shannon.
Pat was preceded in passing by his parents, George and Eleanor Robinson and his older brother, George “Russell” Robinson.
Pat is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny and sons Simon, Josh & Jacob (all of Kennewick), brother Mike & sisters Margie and Shannon, in addition to 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
