Bill Prussing

William (Bill) Edouard Prussing, 67, resident of Richland, WA, formerly of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away at home peacefully with his family at his side February 27, 2018.  He courageously battled cancer for a year through treatment and then hospice care.

Bill was born February 7, 1951, to Mary E. Nelssen and Peter N. Prussing. He was the oldest of three children. The family lived in southern California, Minnesota, Indiana and Michigan. Bill graduated from St. Joseph High School, in St. Joseph, MI. He received his B.S. from Michigan State University and Master of Business Administration and Master of Social Work from Western Michigan University.

Initially, Bill worked in the computer sales industry and for the past twenty years Bill’s career has been in real-estate sales. He was a member of the Tri Cities Association of Realtors serving on the board of directors for 5 years and president for 1 year. He also served on the finance committee for Elijah Family Homes.

Bill lived by the Golden Rule: treat others as you wish to be treated. He sought to always have a positive attitude.

Bill loved playing tennis, basketball, and golf. He also loved coaching basketball.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lori Porter Prussing, of 23 years. Bill and Lori met at Western Michigan University in 1991 while playing softball together and were married in 1994. Lori meant the world to Bill and was thankful for the gift of Lori as his spouse. They loved just being together and enjoyed participating and watching numerous sporting activities. Bill is also survived by his son, Trent, who is currently a junior at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.  Bill was very proud of his son and his many athletic and academic accomplishments, but more importantly the person he’s becoming.

Bill is also survived by his brother, Rik Prussing of Carpinteria, CA. Bill and Rik were not only brothers but best friends.  Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father and younger sister.

A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 3:30pm at Christ the King Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Elijah Family Homes: P.O. Box 2005, Richland, WA 99352 or Chaplaincy Health Care (Hospice): 1480 Fowler Street, Richland, WA 99352.

  • This is obviously more than 2 years past but I just happened to be Googling former people I worked with and typed in Bill’s name and was/am shocked. My most sincere condolences to all of Bill’s family. I worked with Bill at Burroughs Corporation (aka Unisys) for 8 years – 4 while I lived in Kalamazoo (1986-1990) and 4 more (I think) once I was transferred to the District office in Grand Rapids. I remember Bill fondly. He was a super guy. Once I moved on from Unisys I lost touch with everyone but I occasionally (like now) do a search to see where they are and what they’re doing. May Bill be at rest. I am saddened that he lost that battle to the big C (unfortunately now that’s Covid as well as Cancer). Stay safe and I’m glad to have shared a walk down memory lane with you.
