Dmetri Kennedy-Woody
Dmetri Trei Jack Kennedy-Woody, 18, of West Richland, WA passed away on May 28, 2018 in the Yakima River (240 Hwy/Train Trossell Bridge). Dmetri was born on May 20, 2000 at Kennewick General Hospital to Berry Woody and Cheri Kennedy.
Dmetri attended Jefferson
Elementary, Chief Joseph Middle School and was currently attending his Senior
Year at Hanford High School. Dmetri was an extraordinary athlete, a devoted
teammate, and a natural leader. He was
integral to the 2018 football season, scoring three touchdowns in a single game
while playing Walla Walla and 10 touchdowns in a single season. During his 2018
baseball season, Dmetri was captain of the team, made huge hits for the baseball
program, remarkable plays in the outfield and hit a walk-off triple to win the
game 3-2 against Curtis High School. He was multi-year, multi-sport Hanford
Falcon letterman who represented Hanford baseball and football on numerous All
Conference and All Tournament Teams. His athleticism was extraordinary and
obvious on fields and diamonds all around the Northwest. He was awarded the
Fitness Achievement Award for best and highest score for push-ups, sit-ups and
running; Honorable Mention Selection in Football and MCC Second Team
All-Conference in Baseball, MVP Tournament Baseball with Rebels.
Another passion of Dmetri’s
was being a mentor and motivational aid to special needs students and helping
little league players. Anything to do with the rising young athletics, he was
there. When Dmetri entered a room, his infectious smile and outgoing
personality lit up rooms. He loved to make people and his friends smile and
laugh. He lived life to the fullest never skipping a beat and always reaching
for the best. He was the type of person people connected with because he was
easy to talk to, led by his actions, listened and went out of his way to help.
Dmetri’s kindness, intelligence, and humor reached the entire community. It was shown in the extraordinary support we received to bring our son home. He was an exceptional young man who had so much to give and was taken much too early in life. He was greatly loved and will be missed into the years to come.
Dmetri is survived by his parents Barry Woody and Cheri Kennedy; one brother, Dominic Woody; sister-in-law, Angie Crivello; two sisters, Shanna Woody and Adrianna Kennedy-Woody; one aunt, Sandra Hall; uncle, Ed Hall and his nephews; Enzo Cruz Woody and Otto Hendrix Woody. He is also survived his cousins, Monica Ellis, Branden Hall, Jefferey Reeves, Tyron Reeves, Cynthia Spinks-Philpot, Pamela Spinks, Stephanie Jenkins and Sabrina Spinks.
A celebration of Dmerti’s Life will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 2:00pm at Bethel Church in Richland, WA. Reception to follow immediately afterwards.

The Jackson and Bennett family
I was blessed to know Dmetri through my daughter Hanna and her friends. He was a wonderful young man and I hope his celebration of life today is a reminder of how wonderful he was and how much he will be missed.
