Henry E. Jackel Jr. 88, a resident of Kennewick, WA since 2007 passed away on June 12, 2018.
Henry was born on October 20, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA and spent his childhood there. He served two years in the Army, and then went to college at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN where he received his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then completed a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University. He was a member of the Theta Xi fraternity and Tau Beta Pi Association (Engineering Honor Society).
Henry worked at Hanford from 1965-1970 and then worked at the Pudget Sound Naval Shipyard until his retirement in 1993. Due to Henry’s work ethic he received the Action Plus Excellence Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in Value Engineering at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1989. Very active with Boy Scouts of America, he received the Silver Beaver Award and the District Award of Merit from Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Martine Jackel, daughters Cynthia Underwood (spouse David) Charlene Holman (spouse Steve) and son Brian Jackel (spouse Karen), and grandchildren Christina Underwood, Leslie Underwood, David Underwood, Chelsea Wolk, Jeremy Jackel, Aaron Jackel, and 4 great grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents Henry E. Jackel Sr. and Ruth Jackel; and brother Richard Jackel.
Public Viewing will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Einan’s at Sunset Chapel at 1:00pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00pm. The Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Gardens at 3:00pm.
