Marshall moved to South Dakota at an early age and lived on a farm until the age of 16. He went to a one room school until 6th grade then bussed into Madison, S. Dakota where he graduated from Madison High School in 1943.

He moved to Denver, CO and worked for the railroad company for 3yrs. Then went back to Madison and worked for a bakery until he was drafted into the Army on 1949. After finishing his service, he began working for Hanford as a technician in the Metallurgy Research Department and retired after 40 years as a Senior Research Technician.

Marshall enjoyed dancing, hunting, hiking, boating, camping and fishing, especially in Montana.

He married Charlotte Smith on June 21, 1956 who survives Marshall along with his four surviving children: Jay Jones, Janis Jones, and twins Mark Jones and Maryann Hitchman (Jones). He is also survived by his two grandchildren: Sarah and Jesse.

Marshall was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Lavorne.
