Virginia Bagnell Jungblom Barta 

Virginia Bagnell Jungblom Barta died on July 12, 2018 in Kennewick, Washington at the age of 98.

Born on April 9, 1920 in Republic, Washington, Virginia was the daughter of the late Charles McQueen Bagnell and Elma Soulen Bagnell.  She grew up in Concrete, Washington where she attended the local schools.  She married Leroy Jungblom and moved to Spokane, Washington.  Her husband Leroy died in a car accident in 1940.  Virginia married Frank Barta in 1942; after WWII Frank and Virginia moved to Vancouver, Washington.  In 1956 Virginia became involved with the Parent Participation PreSchool at Clark College in Vancouver.  She became a teacher there and worked in the program for 15 years until she and Frank retired in 1975.  They moved to Canyon Lakes in Kennewick Washington in 1994.  Husband Frank died in 2014.

Virginia became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in 1948 and transferred to the First Presbyterian Church of Kennewick when she moved to that city.  She was an active P.E.O. and was a member of Chapter DJ in Vancouver and transferred to Chapter GZ in Kennewick.  Children were a special interest of Virginia and she was involved with them all her life.

Her hobbies were reading, rug braiding, sewing and travel.  In retirement genealogy became her passion.  She has left a well-documented family history for her family.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Carol Jungblom Barta Koman (Joe) of Ellicott City, Maryland; daughter Diane Virginia Barta Carstens (Dick) of Richland, Washington; son David Franklin Barta (Lani) of Tacoma, Washington.  She leaves 7 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 8 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.

As per Virginia’s request, there will be no Memorial Service.  A small graveside service will be held at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, Washington at a future date.
