Mark Foster

Mark James Foster, born on February 16, 1964, in Provo, UT, passed away on April 19, 2025, in Richland WA. He was the ninth of ten children born to Robert and Dorothy Foster. His early years were marked by a strong bond with his father and a passion for football, which he pursued vigorously from junior high until his senior year when an injury to his chest ended his football career.

Mark’s commitment to service was evident through his mission with the Church of Latter-day Saints in Montana, a pivotal experience that shaped his life. After his mission, he married Teresa and shortly thereafter joined the Air Force, where he served with honor and dedications. His military career took him and his family to England, although his son, Zachary, was born in Utah and his son, Steven, was born in Texas. The end of his service and his subsequent divorce were challenging, but Mark found love again with Tena, with whom he built a blended family that included her children, Jason and Mykel, and their adopted daughter, Akaycia.

Professionally, Mark was noted for his contributions to literature and research, having authored several books that reflect his deep spirituality and intellectual curiosity. His writings, often exploring dreams and their meanings, were well-regarded by his readership.

Mark was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was actively involved throughout his life. His hobbies included backpacking, bike riding, wiring, exploring, fishing, and canoeing, activities that allowed him to appreciate the outdoors and seek adventure.

He is survived by his siblings Carol (Bob) Fredere, Leonard (Janice) Foster, Joy (Brian) Dixon, Mary (Roger) Olson, Melanie (Vance) Rasmussen, Jeff (Julie) Foster, Rachel Frederiksen, Robert (Wendy) Foster, Kimberly (Jeremy) Webb; and children Zachary Zundel, Steven Zundel, Jason Parker, Mykel Parker, and Akaycia Foster. Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Tena Marie Smith, and his parents, Robert Dean Foster and Dorothy May Keeney, and his step-father, Wesley Jarvis.
