Sidney “Sid” Swindler
Sidney “Sid” Marvin Swindler, born on April 9, 1944, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, passed away on May 10, 2025, in Kennewick, Washington. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Sid enlisted on July 15, 1964, and honorably served until his discharge on July 12, 1968, during the Vietnam War. His commitment to his country was mirrored by his impressive work ethic, which he instilled in his children throughout his life.
Sid was a dedicated QA Inspector/Engineer, with a career that included work at multiple nuclear sites. Following his service, he successfully owned his own business before transitioning to a role as a card dealer, a position that allowed him to share his love of games and interaction with others. Sid was known for his sharp wit and dependable nature, often described as a smartass with a heart full of love for his family.
He cherished time spent with his loved ones, never missing any of his children’s sports activities or family dinners. Sid had a passion for everything on two wheels, enjoying adventures on motorcycles and dirt bikes. He was an avid fan of western movies, music, bowling, and playing cards. His favorite moments were spent camping, dirt biking, time at the beach, and fishing, emphasizing the importance of quality time spent with family and friends.
Sid is survived by his beloved children, including daughters Jeri Morrow, Beth Smith and Sarah Enox, his sons Richard Hughes, Ryan Hughes and Reese Swindler, as well as 12 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids. Additionally, Sid is survived by his brothers, Frank Swindler and Skeet Swindler. While he may have departed from this world, Sid’s vibrant spirit and love will continue to resonate deeply in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Sid requested no service be planned. He asked that, in his memory, those who loved him take time to remember him in a way that is most special and important to them.
Sidney “Sid” was preceded in death by his father Marion Swindler, mother Sylvia Warhunc, and brother Earl “Skip” Frank Swindler.

My junior year of high school Sid let me take the Jensen Healey to a formal school dance. The boy I went with wanted to look under the hood to check out the engine. After having a look, he grabbed the hood and pulled it down to close it. Unfortunately he didn’t first put down the post holding the hood up. The hood was torqued. It was obviously bent on one side. I was worried about Sid’s reaction the whole night. I thought I’d be grounded for the rest of the school year! To my surprise, after showing Sid the bent hood and apologizing profusely, he just said, “That’s okay. I’m glad you were honest with me. I’m going to get all the dents out before I paint her anyway.” And that was it. No grounding and nothing more was said about it. I still can’t believe I skated by without punishment. Forgiving me(my date) is one of my best memories of him.
Sid, where do I start! you were a special man. The memories will stay with me and are special. we have experienced so many things but what stands out is that you were there for me as I was for you. I know I will see you but you will have to wait 20+ years or when ever God calls me home. later Sid,
Thank you for all of the memories. Making us welcome into your home and lives. I hope you are able to relive riding your Harley.
First and foremost I would like to thank the Swindler family for sharing this wonderful opportunity to share a little story about my good amigo Sid. As his nurse I got to spend some good times together, Sid never addressed me as his nurse but more like a family member which I took great honor. Sid was a great mentor to me, he always carried himself very humbly and respectfully. I don’t know that it was but he enjoyed talking to me about his most important things in his life which was always his family. What makes me remember him the most is the love and compassion he had for his family, friends, and his two cats; Sammy Davis and Lucky Luciano 🙂 we both had a passion for muscle cars and we got to share some fun stories about them together and on his most recent birthday he told me, “Luis, I’m old” I said, “no Sid your vintage” he gave the biggest smile. May you rest easy friend, love you.
