Barbara “Bobbi Jo” Thompson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on June 23rd, 2025, at her home in Richland, Washington at the age of 72. Bobbi Jo was born to Bob and Pat Sheldon on January 12th, 1953 in Kennewick, Washington as the oldest child with three brothers to follow – Dave, Brian and Scott Sheldon.
53 years ago, she married her husband, Mel “Ray” Thompson (Kennewick, Washington) who she met at a Square Dancing Festival in Penticton, Canada, in 1969. Their first date was a few days later where they went to get Coke’s together. A few months after that they were inseparable.
After marrying in 1972, they welcomed their first baby boy, Michael “Mick” Thompson in April of 1973. And the year to follow, their second, M. Todd Thompson, arriving on their 2nd wedding anniversary.
Bobbi Jo was a bright light in everyone’s life that knew her. She was always full of life and energy, and always had the quirkiest things to say. She stood at only 5 feet tall but filled every room with just her presence.
Bobbi Jo will be incredibly missed by many including her adoring granddaughters, Payton and Jordyn Thompson, her grandsons, Tanner and Lukas Thompson, and her great grandson, Bodie Thompson.
