Stewart Alex Sundberg
Stewart Alex Sundberg, aged 83, passed away on June 30, 2025, in Kennewick, WA. Born on April 11, 1942, in Birmingham, AL, Stewart dedicated his life to service and community, both as a member of the Air Force and as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
In the Air Force, Stewart served as an Air Traffic Controller, specializing in missile technology. His precision and commitment to his role were commendable and reflected his dedication to his country. After retiring from the military, Stewart continued to serve his community as a letter carrier, a role he cherished for 25 years.
Stewart was a graduate of John R. Rogers High School in Spokane, where he first showcased his love for teamwork and strategy as a football player. He played both tackle and running back, demonstrating early on the resilience and teamwork that would characterize his military and professional careers.
Beyond his professional life, Stewart was a man of many passions. He was an avid car enthusiast, often found under the hood of a car alongside his buddies. His love for dancing, fishing, and woodworking were well-known among his friends and family. Stewart also cherished his trips to Lincoln City beach, where he enjoyed stays at Sailor Jack’s Oceanfront Inn and never missed a visit to Gallucci’s pizza.
Stewart is survived by his loving wife, Kim Sundberg; his children, Bill Sundberg and his wife Jill, Debra Stephens-Cook and her husband David, and stepson Edward Svancara and his wife Kate; his brother, Richard Sundberg; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Louise and Richard Sundberg.
His affection for his canine companions, Anna and Charlie, was a testament to his caring nature, while his profound contributions to his nation and community remain an enduring legacy. Stewart Alex Sundberg’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
