David Mock
David Theodore Mock, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, was born on January 3, 1940, in Mankato, Minnesota. He passed away on July 5, 2025, in Richland, Washington, leaving a legacy of love, service, and creativity.
David was a man of many talents and passions. He dedicated his life to his work as a minister within the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and made significant contributions to various non-profit organizations such as Bethphage and Thrivent Financial. Throughout his career, David touched countless lives as a teacher, psychologist, and financial planner, always with a focus on helping others thrive.
An accomplished woodworker, Dave took great joy in creating unique woodworking pieces that demonstrated his skill and passion for craftsmanship. His creativity extended beyond woodworking; David was also a talented handyman who remodeled numerous homes, leaving a mark of beauty and functionality wherever he went. Additionally, he was known for producing impressive gardens and yards, a reflection of his love for nature and the outdoors. His green thumb and eye for design combined to create peaceful and vibrant spaces that were a source of joy for his family and friends.
Dave was a dedicated history buff, who enjoyed exploring the stories of the past. His thirst for knowledge was matched only by his deep faith, which he studied and lived out in his daily life. He was not only a spiritual leader but a reliable friend and counselor to many in his community.
Dave had a special fondness for animals, being an avid dog and cat lover who found joy in their companionship. He particularly loved his dog, Bear, who was a constant at his side. His warm-hearted nature extended to all beings, contributing to the positive impact he had on those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Milligan-Mock; his caring daughters, Genny McGuire, Deborah Mock, Kandace Hummel, and Kathy Huxtable; his sons-in-law, Cole McGuire, Michael Arndt, David Hummel, and Chris Huxtable; and his cherished granddaughters, Becca Hummel, Melissa Hummel Romero, and Justine Hummel; and his previous spouse, Joyce Hanson . He also leaves behind his sister, Debbie Kokaska and her husband William Kokaska; his sister-in-law Kerry Milligan (Craig LeCroy); his brother-in-law, Mike Milligan (Carol); and many loved nieces and nephews, who will all carry forward his spirit of kindness and heartfelt compassion.
David’s life was a celebration of love, creativity, and faith, and while his physical presence will be dearly missed, his love will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. His family and friends will honor him by continuing to live out the values he exemplified: service to others, a spirit of creativity, and a profound respect for the beauty of life.
