Gladys Mae Kinch Malley
Gladys Mae Kinch Malley passed peacefully at home on Monday morning, July 1, 2025; she was 97. Gladys was born on April 23, 1928 in Snohomish, Washington to Clyde Magnus Kinch and Anna Evangeline Mathison Kinch. She graduated from Snohomish High School in 1946 and then attended WSU in Pullman, WA. She met her future husband Bill in the WSU cafeteria where they both worked. They were married December 22, 1948. Gladys and Bill moved to several locations in the northwest while searching for the ideal town to buy a pharmacy. They landed in Richland, WA in 1962 with four children. They owned and operated Malley’s Pharmacy in Richland, WA until they sold it in 1986. Gladys was the backbone of the operation. In addition to becoming a Pharmacy Tech, she was the bookkeeper, and managed the gift area – all while raising five children and running the household.
Through the Newcomers Club she met her future bridge club group who played together for over 60 years. Gladys loved playing bridge with friends, it was one of her passions. She enjoyed puzzles of all kinds was always ready to play a game. She was known for her delicious pies, spaghetti goulash, and being able to perform a perfect jack knife. She was a member of PEO where her pies were a hit for their fundraisers. Gladys enjoyed traveling, reading books, fishing, golfing, walks along the river and spending time with family and friends.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Malley; oldest son, Michael William Malley; and brother, Paul Kinch. She is survived by her children Jo Ann (Victor) Poland of Trout Lake, WA; Kit (Daniel Morris) Malley of White Salmon, WA; Tim Malley of Richland, WA; Brian (Theresa) Malley of Richland, WA. She is greatly missed by grandchildren Dustin (Jennifer) Poland of Ridgeville, SC; Lee (Josh) Daughtery of Columbia Falls, MT; Mark (Mara) Poland of Kennewick, WA; Jill (Alberto) Mendez of Skokie, IL; Kimberly (Luke) Lambert of Yaak, MT; Paton Malley of Seattle, WA; Jenna Malley of Kennewick, WA; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express our gratitude for the care, comfort and companionship given to our mother from Home Instead and Heartlinks.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Einan’s at Sunset on Friday, August 15, at 1:00 p.m.
