Betty Schumann

Betty Schumann, 80, of Richland, WA, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025. Born on October 4th, 1944 in Vallejo, CA, she was the beloved middle daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Encerti, and grew up in a close-knit Italian family.

Betty’s youth was filled with the lively traditions of her heritage, where she found joy in dancing and singing. She married at a young age and was blessed with two daughters, who became the center of her world. Her pride and happiness multiplied with the arrival of her five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

With a career that began as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Betty’s compassion and skill led her to become a telemetry technician, a role in which she saved many lives. She was honored for her 25 years of dedicated service in healthcare with heartfelt accolades, including a 20-year service pin and an esteemed 25-year service clock. Her contributions extended into her community, where she played a pivotal role in building the Playground of Dreams in Kennewick, WA.

Left to honor Betty’s memory are her daughters, Jamie (Jeff) Wilson and Susanne (Jack) Hayward; sisters, Laura Merlin (Michael Schuster) and Linda Clyma; granddaughters, Laurinda Moore, Janet Ellis, Christine Millward, Amanda Slone, and Elizabeth Garcia; and great-grandchildren Draco Moore, Emmi Moore, Sailor Moore, Rome Ellis, Odin Ellis, and Rowyn Millward. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Gary Clyma.

Betty’s life was a testament to her love for her family and her unwavering service to others. Her spirit will forever be cherished and remembered by those who were fortunate to know her.
