Donald “Donnie” Landsman

Donald Craig Landsman, known as Donnie by his friends and family, was born April 4, 1963, in
Edmonton, Alberta, to Gordon Roy Landsman and Vimy Carmel Landsman (née David). He was
the youngest of seven children. When Donnie was five years old, the Landsman family moved to
the United States, where they eventually settled in Richland, Washington, and established their
permanent home. During his teenage years at Hanford High School, Donnie was an active
member of extracurricular activities, including theater and sports; he graduated in 1981. In 1995,
on his 32nd birthday, Donnie met the love of his life, Julianne, and married her in December of
that year. Together, Donnie and Julie raised three children, and were blessed with a grandson in
December of 2024.
Donnie was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Edmonton
Elk (formerly the Edmonton Eskimos), and the Edmonton Oilers; he also umpired for several
baseball teams and coached a youth girls’ basketball team. He loved to travel, and boasted
having been to nearly every state in the United States, as well as several Canadian provinces.
Never a man of few words, Donnie enjoyed intellectual discussions, and used his charisma,
broad vocabulary, and extensive wealth of knowledge to advocate for the rights of motorcyclists
in the state of Washington, his reputation preceded him in the motorcycle community, as well as
in political circles. He was given the nickname “Mr. Breeze” by his mother, as he loved to ride
with the breeze. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 2012.
Donnie passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 31, 2025, at the age of 62, at his home in
Richland, Washington. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Julianne Landsman (née Kopec);
his three children: Chrystyanna Rae VanDyke (née Landsman), Celeste Mae Lapsus (formerly
Katrynna Mae Landsman), and Kyrstynn Fae Landsman; his grandson Lucero Jeremy Valle
Franceschi; five of his siblings: Keith Landsman, Timothy Landsman, Matthew Landsman,
Lorraine Craig (née Landsman), and Lenora Stecker (née Landsman); his niece Merina
Landsman, daughter of the late Steven Landsman, eldest of the seven Landsman children;
countless more family members: and friends who became family along the way. The impact he
had on those around him will not soon be forgotten, and his memory will carry on in the hearts of
those who love him

  • Deepest condolences to Julie and the Landsman family. I recently had the pleasure of reconnecting with Don, my Hanford High classmate. I feel so fortunate to have had that opportunity before his sudden passing. Don will always be remembered due to his kindness, sincerity and passion for serving others. My final memory of Don was this past Election Day, he and Julie were waving at Hanford traffic. The community has lost a servant who will never be forgotten by those that knew him. We will lift a glass to Donnie at our next class reunion.

  • Julie and Family,
    You are all in our constant prayers. We are so happy you stopped by and grateful we were able to visit with you both before losing Donnie. You have blessed our lives and we will truly miss Donnie and everything he stood for. Please stay in touch and let us know if there is anything we can help with.

  • The memories I have of my Uncle Donnie began when I was very young. From summer trips to Pittsburgh and Disney World, to visits to Red Robin for burgers and Oreo shakes, he was a constant presence in so many joyful moments. I also remember how special it was to welcome Auntie Julie into our family.

    Uncle Donnie taught me how to press a dress shirt and, in many ways, was like a second father to me.

    He will be missed greatly and always remembered with love.
