Edward “Fast Eddy” Janes
10/4/1932 – 8/12/2025
Born on the mean streets of Detroit in 1932. The neighborhood merchants and local police would pay the neighborhood kids, including Ed, to kill the rats behind the stores and alleyways. This led some people to believe he was in a street gang because they walked around with sticks. He attended St. Mary School and worked as a print setter for a newspaper when he was younger. At the age of 20, he joined the Army.
He was stationed at Camp Handford in 1952 and met his Wife Norma in 1954. They married in 1955, and they most recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Ed was a family man and loved to spend time with the family playing games, dancing, and enjoying every ounce of life that they could together. One thing that was a proud accomplishment in his life, was that he coached little league (even thought he had no boys of his own) and was active in bowling and softball where he was the only Catholic on a Mormon team. Ed was welcomed by all.
Ed loved dancing with his wife over the years, including square dancing, ballroom, disco, and rock. They danced every weekend for years, and he was good at it.
Ed is survived by: His Wife; Norma Janes, Daughters; Mickey McJilton and Tammy DuFault, Granddaughter; Courtney (Martin) Roberts, Great Grandchildren; Makenzie and Marcus, Beloved Dogs, and Friends.
He is preceded in death by: His Father; Clarence Janes, Mother; Eleanor Convery, Sister; Doris Craft
Ed cherished all his friendships he formed over the years with all his buddy’s at Whiskey River and all his breakfast pals.
Celebration of Life will be held at Jokers in Richland, WA on Sunday August 17, 2025 from 12-3pm.
