Michael “Mike” Valentine
Michael Keith Valentine, born on March 4, 1946, in Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on August 16, 2025, at his home in West Richland, Washington. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Nancy Valentine; two adoring daughters, Nichelle Williams and Lori Wilson; sons-in-law Rob Williams and Greg Wilson; and five cherished grandchildren, McKenna, Jordan, Casey, Bradley, and Paige. Michael is also survived by his sister, Connie Gelvin; brother, Jim Valentine (Chris); and sister-in-law, Kay Valentine.
Michael earned a Master’s Degree and dedicated his professional life to the field of chemical engineering, with a distinguished career in the nuclear energy industry. His tenure at Framatome culminated in his role as Plant Manager, where he exemplified leadership and innovation.
A man of deep faith and unwavering commitment to his community, Michael was actively involved with Christ the King Catholic Church. His dedication earned him recognition through numerous volunteer efforts, particularly with the Cursillo program, in which he was honored by the Bishop of Yakima for his impactful service. His passion for helping others extended to his work with neighbors, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and support in his community. Some of his notable works included building wheelchair ramps and volunteering at the Food Bank. He was also active in the Love on a Leash program, where he and his beloved dog, Gus, became certified as a therapy dog team, visiting libraries, hospitals, and nursing homes.
Michael had a wide range of interests that enriched his life. He cherished the time spent on the golf course, honing his skills while enjoying the outdoors. Additionally, he had a talent for woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that he donated to children and local charities.
Among his many cherished memories, Michael’s wedding day on August 3, 1968, stands out as a pinnacle moment in his life, a day filled with love and joy, followed by the birth of his two daughters.
A Committal Service and interment will take place on August 29, 2025, at 1:30 PM at SMG – Peace Block I. Prior to this, a Mass celebrating Michael’s life will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 11:00 AM.
Michael Keith Valentine will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his faith, and his profound impact on the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on through the memories that his family and friends carry in their hearts.
Michael was preceded in death by: Keith Valentine, Lois Valentine, Steve Valentine, and Dale Gelvin
We have known Mike for many years, and he has always volunteered his time and talents with others. He was very kind and helpful with worthy causes. He was a good man, and there is a special place for him in Heaven.
Mike was my sponsor at CK for my confirmation. He was a wonderful person. Remember doing 4H as a kid with his family. a very special person
