Hi Rod,
It was heartbreaking to hear of your passing. Though we only spoke a few times as I helped you with your VR&E, we did share a few chuckles over shared experiences. You are gone far too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as they navigate grief and loss and life without you physically beside them. You will forever be there just out of sight, watching over them.
Rest Easy, my fellow Veteran… Until we meet again.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Rod’s passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family during this difficult time. Rod’s dedication, warmth, and passion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. May you find comfort in the love and support of those around you, and may his memory live on in your hearts.
The last time I spoke with Rod was on August 20th. After class, he stayed behind to catch up, share a laugh, and talk about what was going on in his life. In the middle of our conversation, a new student in the ETM program popped into our Zoom session with a question about required books. Without hesitation, Rod jumped in, shared his screen, and walked the student step-by-step through how to find and purchase the books, making sure to highlight the quickest and most efficient way to get them in hand.
That was Rod, always ready to help, always willing to support his fellow students. His smile and laughter were a highlight of every class I had him in, and his presence will be deeply missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, children, family, and friends.
Rod was such a lovely colleague to have in class—always willing to help out and really resourceful.
“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
