Christopher Willard Denslow
Christopher Willard Denslow, a man whose passions were as vast as his photographic talent, passed away on August 31 in Seattle. Born on June 13, 1969, in Kennewick to Robert and Constance (Connie) Denslow, Chris’s life was characterized by his dedication to his hobbies, his work, and the countless people he helped along the way.
Chris was a proud graduate of Kamiakin High School in Kennewick and went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle. He balanced his day jobs as an engineer and, more recently as a database administrator, with his true calling: chronicling the world around him with his camera.
His love for hydroplane racing was a lifelong passion and spanned all levels from vintage and remote-controlled to inboard and H1 Unlimited. With more than 20 years of covering the H1 Unlimited hydroplane series, Chris quickly earned a reputation for being in the right place at the right time and always capturing the perfect shot. Though he was known for developing friendly rivalries with other professional photographers, Chris was always generous, providing anyone who needed them with his photos for websites, hero cards, frames or massive poster collages. His green bucket hat, his wagon that dutifully carried his camera gear, his dry sense of humor, and his big heart became his calling cards at the races.
When he wasn’t behind the lens, Chris was an unapologetically emotional fan of UW Huskies football and Seattle Seahawks football. His running, rarely sugar-coated commentary was shared openly on his social media pages and led to a large and loyal following among fellow fans.
A true friend to many, Chris was the go-to guy for all things tech. He helped everyone who knew him with their computers, printers, routers, cell phones—basically anything with a battery or something you could plug in. During the holidays, friends and family would eagerly wait for his homemade caramels which always arrived just in time. In a world of inconsistency, Chris showed up during times of doubt—always there to capture the highs and lows of life.
Chris is survived by his beloved bird, Beano, his closest friends Alan (grade school), Dave (high school), Brian (college) & the best neighbors the Willis family, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, a wide circle of friends, and anyone lining the shores of a river, lake or bay watching the sport he loved.
Chris’s memory will live on through the countless photos that hang on our walls, preserving cherished moments for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life will be on October 11th at Einans event center ( Events At Sunset) 5pm with a reception to follow 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland WA 99352 Flowers may be sent to the above address
