James Stephen Quackenbush

James “Jim” Stephen Quackenbush, a devoted father, brother, and dedicated nuclear operator, passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on January 18, 1956, Jim grew up with a strong sense of responsibility, a meticulous nature, and a work ethic that defined both his professional and personal life. He devoted much of his career to serving as a nuclear operator at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, where his commitment to precision and safety earned him deep respect from his colleagues.
Outside of work, Jim embraced life with energy and passion. He loved the open road on his motorcycle, the familiar comfort of playing his guitar, and the thrill of a good game of poker in Las Vegas. His sharp mind, attention to detail, and hardworking spirit were matched by a warmth and dedication to those he loved most.
Jim is survived by his son, Brandon Jackson, and his brother, Jeff Quackenbush, who will carry forward his memory with love and pride.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard N. Quackenbush, and his mother, Eulah Hinkle.
Jim will be remembered for his diligence, his loyalty, and the way he poured himself fully into the things he cared about. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the music he played, and the lessons he imparted.

  • I absolutely love this picture of Jim. I have so many great memories of working, making music and laughing. Jim had a great sense of humor that has kept me literally laughing our loud for all these years. I was so glad to have reconnected with him about 10 years ago to continue our friendship. I am deeply saddened by his passing but also recognize all the challenges he had been facing since the accident. Jim made the world a better place and I will miss him. Rest in peace brother.
