Jerome “Jerry” Bultena

In loving memory of Jerry Allan Bultena. On September 3, 2025, Jerry Allan Bultena passed peacefully from this world into the arms of our Heavenly Father. Born in Newport, Washington, to the late Viola and Hiko Bultena, Jerry lived a life marked by hard work, devotion, and a deep love for family and adventure.

A proud graduate of Columbia High School, Jerry was a standout athlete until a football injury sidelined his dreams on the field. Undeterred, he poured his energy into supporting his young family, working multiple jobs and eventually becoming a licensed well driller. His natural skill with heavy equipment led him to discover a true passion-one that would shape the rest of his career.

In 1985, Jerry accepted a position at the Hanford Site with Westinghouse Hanford. Over the years, he transitioned from well drilling to environmental work, ultimately serving as the Managing Engineer for heavy equipment and groundwater drilling and sampling with Bechtel Hanford during the decommissioning of the site’s historic nuclear reactors. He took great pride in his work and especially enjoyed his time out in “the Area.”

Outside of work, Jerry’s spirit of adventure found a home in the Tri-City Dune Buggy Club, where he served as president and built dune buggies with meticulous care and craftsmanship. He found joy in the Blue Mountains, relaxing at his best friend’s cabin, but his heart belonged to the Oregon Coast-especially the dunes of Winchester Bay.

Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger and Robert Bultena. He is survived by his brothers Marvin (Delray) and Lenard, and his sisters Victoria Klein, Trena Bultena, Hikao Hansen. His legacy lives on through his children: Sadie Lee Malumaleumu (Macgarret), Susan Annette Bultena, Joe Allan Langston-Bultena (Kate), and his stepdaughter, Shayla Nelson (Jake). He also held a special bond with Angela and Tony Craward. Jerry was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.

Jerry’s life was a testament to resilience, generosity, and the power of doing what you love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Please Join us at Events at Sunset to Celebrate and Honor a Life well Lived.
