Mary Kessner

Mary Kessner lived a life full of love, laughter, red wine, and a good cup of black coffee.

Born in Wolf Point, Montana, Mary was the oldest of six siblings. Always loved helping family and friends.

Grandma Mary leaves behind two children Joan Kessner, Richland,WA and David Kessner, Blacksburg,VA (Janice), four grandchildren Nicole Kessner Taylor (James), Chelsea Kessner, Matthew Kessner, and Aubrey Kessner, and 3 great-grandchildren Caledonia Taylor, Brett Kessner, and Wyatt Taylor, who will forever carry forward her humor, kindness, and love of the Green Bay Packers.

She is preceded in death by her husband Russell Kessner, grandson Eli Kessner, and her parents George and Helen Loendorf.

Grandma Mary will not only be missed because she brightened every room she walked in, but for her famous cookies and bran rolls.

To honor Grandma Mary’s legacy, our family would be grateful for donations to her two favorite charities, Mary & Russell Kessner Scholarship at Montana State University and Mid-Columnia Meals on Wheels. Grandma Mary also wanted everyone to enjoy a glass of red wine in her memory.

  • Everyone loved Mary. From the grocery clerks who looked forward to her kind words, to all the young women she mentored through Girl Scouts, Mary always left people feeling better about themselves. She was such a bright light yet never wanted to be in the spotlight. She just quietly went along lifting others, serving as a role-model for us all.

We never heard Mary speak a negative word about anyone. Oh yes, she had that unmistakable twinkle in her eye at times, that let you know she did have an opinion. But if it wasn’t positive, she kept it to herself.

And her little hands must have tied a zillion bows on gifts for people she would never meet. Mary was a tireless supporter of many non-profits, helping Joan to collect, assemble and create the most beautiful gift baskets and goodie bags for countless auctions, awards, and holiday gifts for Meals on Wheels clients, some of whom would never have a Christmas gift if not for the generosity and tireless efforts of Mary and Joan. So, so many bows! Mountains of gifts over the years! Such a heartfelt commitment to working every day to make the world a better place.

Mary was simply a magnificent woman who left a legacy of love and impact.
