Patricia Joan Fikel Styris passed away on Sunday, September 28th in Richland, Washington. She was born July 31st, 1935, in Pomona, California. She was the second of four children born to J. Farrell and Margery Lewison Fikel. She grew up riding her beloved horse Ginger in the orange groves around her Pomona, California home.

In 1958, Patricia met and married David Styris. She worked to support them as David pursued his career as a research scientist. They lived in Tucson, AZ, Ithaca, NY, and Pullman, WA, before settling in Richland.

Pat began her Richland career working as a secretary at the law firm of Critchlow, Williams and Schuster in the 1970s. She went on to work for the Washington Public Power Supply System (WPPSS), Battelle, and the John Clement Gallery. She was incredibly proud of her role in introducing word processing computers to secretarial staff in the 1980s.

Pat was very active in retirement. She sang with the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers’ annual performance of Handel’s Messiah for many years. She and David traveled extensively. They spent their winters cross-country skiing and their summers roller-skiing and kayaking.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Styris, her parents, her older brother J. Farrell Fikel Jr. and younger brother Stanley Curtis Fikel. She is survived by her younger sister Val Marie Fikel Lubbers (Kees), daughter Ahn Lee Horn, son-in-law Douglas Horn, grandson Nathan Horn, granddaughter Nina Horn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Guardian Angel Homes in Richland for the wonderful, loving care that she received during her five years of residence there.
