Eunice Sylvia Hallett

Eunice Sylvia Ross Jensen HALLETT
Born 29th July 1933 in Marshfield, Wood, Wisconsin to Dorothy Fern Gray and Maurice Peter Ross. The youngest of four children, with two sisters, Elisabeth (Betty) Gorman, Margaret (Peggy) Ross and William (Bill) Ross. (W.R. deceased in 1997.) Mother died in 1973 and Father died in 1978.
Married Ralph LeRoy Jensen in August 1951. Four sons, Carl, (deceased), Stephen, (Deceased), Mark (Kennewick) and John, (Spokane) coming from this marriage. (R. J. Died in 1988. Divorced in 1974.)
Moved to Benton City in May 1975. Worked as a dinner cook at the Shrimp Boat Restaurant in Kennewick until 1979. Then worked for 11 years as Dinner cook at the Columbia Room Restaurant of the Bon Marche in Columbia Center. Because of health problems she retired from cooking and worked for a while in the Bakery of the Richland Safeway store, then as a caregiver. In 1994 she married Fred Steven Hallett and concentrated on making a happy home for him and his two teen-age sons.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which she joined in 1955 in California. She held a number of positions, Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher and Secretary, Counselor, and Secretary in the Relief Society organization, But the one that she appreciated most was the calling to the German Name Extraction program in November of 1981. She continued in this calling, spending several or more hours a day until 1995.
“The gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by this church has been my guide and mainstay from the first time I came in contact with it. Never has it failed me.”
“My patriarchal blessing promised me that the time would come when I would be sealed for time and for all eternity in the bonds of Celestial Marriage to one who was worthy of me and to whom I gave my love and affection. After 20 years of being alone, approaching the age of 60 years, I felt that my life was about to it’s close. One morning I reminded the Lord that if this promise were to be fulfilled that perhaps we should be getting on with it. I don’t really know if I had anything to do with it…or perhaps I just wasn’t ready before, but within a few months circumstances evolved to the point where Fred and I came to an understanding of each other and our worth to each other. We were married in the living room of my home…which then became our home, on the 25th of February, 1994. The current Bishop Joe E. Lloyd performed the service for us. Attending were his wife, Janice, Earl and Gaylynn Norman, and Fred’s two sons, Fred Curtis and Steven Paul. Our marriage took the ward by surprise but all seemed genuinely happy for us.”
Fred Steven Hallett passed away to his eternal reward on the 7th of September 2007.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025 at 11:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery, 7 West Corral Creek Road, Benton City, WA.

  • Eunice was such a sweet angel. We were pen pals for many years I did visit her one day in Benton City at her home. We had some great laughs. It was difficult when she said she could no longer write. I always thought of her. She touched my life more than she realized. I still had her birthday in my calendar. I know heaven is celebrating.
