Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend

There’s a quiet pride that fills our hearts when someone says, “I knew your Dad. He was a good man.” Because he truly was.

He taught us all what kindness looks like in action, what strength means without words, and what love feels like without needing to say it.

Even now, We see him in the way we treat others, in the way we keep our words, in the way we love deeply and quietly-just like he did.

John, your legacy lives on in us all, in every person you touched, in every heart that still speaks your name with respect. 🤍

You were more than a good man… you were the best.

John gained his wings and joined his heavenly family, his parents, brothers and sister and his grandsons and his heavenly father Jesus.

He did not leave behind others but is preparing for our heavenly reunion we are all waiting for, His wife Carol, Children: Randy (Michelle) Marty, Theresa (Jeff) Clary and Julie Marty, Grandchildren; Justin (Tai), Derek (Ashley), Alyssa (Colton), Jessie, Brandie, and Great Grand Children; Kallen, Alina, and Nash, and Nephews and Nieces.

John was raised on a dairy farm in Toledo, Washington, by his Swiss parents, who lovingly brought up eleven children. During high school, he played football, ran track, and spent much of his time helping on the family farm. John served in the Navy Reserve with his brother. In 1957, he married Carol, and together they built a beautiful life with three children. John worked at a pulp mill and also did logging, providing for his family with dedication and hard work. A devoted husband, father, and friend, he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. John loved spending time outdoors—boating, fishing, and making memories with his family at the beach or camping in the mountains. He was especially known for his kind heart and the homemade cakes he baked each year for his children’s birthdays, a simple but sweet reflection of his love and care.

We all have many great memories of John here are just a few that have been shared, John was always smiling and ready to help others, he never showed he was angry and guided with words of wisdom. His sister Peggy remembers when she was eight when John and Carol got married and he gave her a card with a black cross necklace with rhinestones around it with red roses painted on it, and believes this is where she found her love for roses. Many of us remember the story of John and his brothers putting the chickens to sleep and then using them as basketballs, there was also a time he would always be looking for that mama cow when she gave birth and would have to carry the baby calf safely back to the barn.

As his children and Grandchildren, we remember the times of John teaching us to cook, play games, he and mom taught us all the “secret” for popcorn balls we all enjoyed making them together as a family each Christmas season.

As said before John taught us all so many things but most of all he taught us to show the love of Jesus to everyone and be there when ever needed. He cheered on his Grandchildren in all their sports, and he loved to take Mom to all the high school football, basketball games they could go too.

He loved life and enjoyed talking about the family and the family trips we had together. We all remember going to the beach and Leavenworth and we all keep those traditions alive to this day.
