Nicholas Andrew Heldt
Nicholas Andrew Heldt was born into the arms of Jesus on Nov. 4, 2025, at 3:09 p.m. He will be forever loved and missed.
Nicholas was only with us briefly, but the time he gave us will always be remembered and cherished. His mama will never forget the flood of shock and excitement at finding out she was pregnant and eagerly waiting for his daddy to get home to tell him, his sweet kicks and rolls, listening to Nicholas’ active heartbeat, and singing to him at night. She dreamed of being able to take him to baseball games, watching him run around with his brothers, and seeing all he would become. His daddy will never forget praying for him, the hope and excitement Nicholas brought to his life, or gently and tenderly swaddling him in the hospital. He could hardly wait to teach him about Notre Dame football, tell him all the best dad jokes, and teach him the value of hard work, determination, and how to persevere through life’s challenges. Nicholas’ brothers were so excited to meet him, bring him along in their adventures and shenanigans, introduce him to Spider-Man and all their favorite superheroes, and share their love of orange chicken, cheeseburgers (no pickles), and donuts with him.
Every moment of Nicholas’ life was celebrated. Following Nicholas’ birth, his parents and many who love him were able to hold him, take in all his features, rock him, take pictures, and feel heaven shining upon them.
Nicholas is survived by his mom and dad, Kara and Dan; his brothers Dylan and Mitchell; great grandparents Roxie and Bob Holley; grandfathers Steve McMurray and Jim Heldt; aunts Lacy Baldwin, Corynn (Levi Zorich) McMurray, and Erin (James) Newman; uncles Brian (Natasha) McMurray and Jon (Amee) Heldt; and numerous cousins, aunties, uncles, and friends who were eagerly awaiting his time on earth.
He was welcomed in heaven by his Nana Cindy McMurray; Grandma Joline Heldt; Great Grandparents Janice and Delvin Kaiser, Mary and James Heldt, and Geraldine and Bill McMurray; Uncle Sean Heldt; his twin who went to heaven early in this pregnancy, and his older sibling who went to heaven early in a previous pregnancy. His family takes comfort in knowing Nicholas has amazing grandparents and family in heaven to love and hold him and siblings to play along side.
Time was not on our side and we will forever miss our sweet Nicholas Andrew.
Nicholas’ family would like to thank Dr. Diken at Kadlec Maternal Fetal Medicine; Dr. Kobalter and the amazing nursing staff at the Kadlec Birthing Center for their compassion during this difficult time and for their attentiveness to keeping Kara’s health and safety a priority through severe pregnancy complications; the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep charity for taking beautiful photos that Nicholas’ family will cherish forever, and Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home for their guidance with Nicholas’ final arrangements. A private family service will be held at a later date.
You are forever loved Nicholas, but still never forgotten.
Sending love to you and your precious Nicholas. He will be there to greet you when you go to heaven. I have a daughter in heaven who I will pray greets him. Sending love to you and your famiily.
Kara and Dan, I am so sorry to hear of Nicholas passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May you and your family find peace through our Savior.
Kara and Dan, my thoughts and love are with you. I wish I knew the right words to say, but words will never be enough. But you have a friend in me, and I am always here to talk about Nicholas. Always.
We take comfort in knowing how loved you are in Heaven, Nicholas, but know how much I am going to miss spoiling you with cookies, sleepovers, and loves! -She-She
