Judith “Judy” Heintz
In Loving Memory of Judy Mary Heintz
Judy Heintz was born on May 25, 1938, and grew up in West Seattle with her parents, Ray and Dorothy Dixon. When she reached school age, she attended Holy Rosary Elementary School and later Holy Names Academy High School, both located in Seattle Washington. She went on to study at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.
Following college, Judy returned home and found employment in the photography division of The Seattle Times. It was there that she met her husband, William J. Heintz.
Around 1962, Bill and Judy welcomed their two children, Traci and Brett, marking the beginning of the Heintz family. Judy was always the focal point “heart” of the family, offering constant love and support during the many horse shows and motorcycle races her children participated in while growing up. Following the growth of her children, she later joined the workforce at Frederick & Nelson in Seattle, working in the candy department. During this time, a doctor’s visit revealed that Judy was suffering from a brain tumor. Over the next four years, Judy—strong and resilient—fought and overcame her illness.
After her recovery, Judy returned to work once again, earning a degree as a medical assistant and phlebotomist. She went on to serve in this role at the Doctors Clinics of Poulsbo, Washington, where she worked until the mid-1990s.
Eventually, Judy and Bill moved—horses and all—to the Tri-Cities of Eastern Washington to be closer to their children and grandchildren: Tiana and Tyler Steckler, Trevor and Desiree Lang, and C.J. Heintz.
Judy deeply loved her grandchildren. Each one unique and equally cherished. As they grew into young adults, Judy often spoke with pride about the people they were becoming.
Sadly, Judy found herself on her own after Bill passed away in 2004. She then sold the family property and purchased her first home, where she
lived for the next seven years. Later, she moved into a lovely apartment that better suited her lifestyle. There, she thrived among the young adults and their energy, enjoying the amenities, especially the pool.
Once again, a health issue arose when Judy required back surgery. With great love and support, her youngest grandson, C.J., helped care for her day-to-day needs, allowing her a smooth and quick recovery.
Judy always maintained a deep and loving connection with her children and grandchildren. As the years progressed, and following several strokes, the onset of dementia became apparent. During this time, Traci became Judy’s caregiver, lovingly guiding her through this stage of life.
Throughout everything, Judy loved her God and her church, never losing her faith. She cherished the holidays—especially Christmas and birthdays—and never failed to show her love for her entire family. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and playing games around the table during the holidays. On a lighter note, Judy also loved when Traci would take her to the casino to gamble a little.
The final years were very challenging, but Judy remained strong and never lost her deep love for her family.
If there is a blessing to be found today, it is the love we carry forward—proof that Judy’s time here had meaning.
Judy now resides with her husband, Bill, in the arms of the angels.
In life Judy showed us what a wonderful mom, grandma, wife is;through her passing she showed us what an incredible gift you kids are.
I will cherish my memories of a wonderful 2nd mom
Love to all of you. Traci, Brett, Tyler, Tiana and all her other wonderful grandchildren (sorry I don’t recall your names)
Dear Family,
Thank you for this bright light and friend, Judy. She was also a YLI member for many years. I loved her devotion to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Her gift giving has inspired me to donate to this organization also. Beautiful obituary tribute to Judy, a lovely and gentle person. Blessings to the family.
Love,
Beccy
My deepest condolences to the family. ❤️🙏🏼 I was truly blessed to have known her. May she now rest in peace
My condolences to the Heintz family. Judy was a wonderful (former) YLI Sister. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
