Mary Kay McConnell
Mary K. McConnell AKA Mary Kay, a cherished daughter, dedicated volunteer, and beloved member of the Richland community, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on March 29, 1962, in Yakima, Washington, Mary Kay was adopted at just three months old by her loving parents, Jimmy and Jean McConnell, who instilled in her a deep sense of compassion, commitment to service, and the Lord.
Mary Kay was a proud graduate of St. Joseph Elementary and Middle School, graduated Riverview Baptist Christian School, and she later attended Columbia Basin College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in 1987. Her heart was always anchored in her community and the joyful summers spent with family in Minnesota, where she cherished every moment shared during reunions and family vacations.
For over 30 years, Mary Kay volunteered at Christ the King Catholic Church embodying a spirit of generosity as she helped parishioners find not just books, but also smiles and a love for reading. Her dedication had a profound impact on many lives. Mary Kay’s commitment was recognized with numerous awards, including the Golden Rule Award from JC Penney for her library volunteer work and the Volunteer of the Year award with Christ the King School in 2004. Additionally, she was an active member of the Young Ladies Institute, further reflecting her passion for her Lord and Savior.
A public viewing will be held on December 16, 2025 at 2pm at Einans Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held in honor of Mary’s life at Christ the King Catholic Church at a later date.
Mary Kay leaves behind her sister Ann McConnell, Cousins Ed Owens, Alice Terril, Tim Owens, and Mary Hall, plus many cherished friends, colleagues. She is preceded in death by her devoted parents, Jean and Jimmy McConnell. As we remember Mary Kay, we honor her spirit of kindness, her unwavering faith, and her enduring legacy of love and service to others.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

I had the privilege to know Mary Kay for 43 yrs. She was a true blessing to me & my family. My children referred to her as Aunt Mary Kay. She will be tremendously missed., my sisyer-friend as we often referred to each other as.

Mary Kay travel to see me in many places, she loved exploring we traveled to Niagara Falls, NYC, Philly, road tripped from MN to FL. Great memories
Thank you Ed and all the other Washington state relatives who made sure MaryKay had what she needed these last few years. Jim, Jean, and MaryKay took good care of each other, now they will be enjoying Heaven together!
It was always a special and much anticipated time when Jim, Jean, MaryKay, and AnneMarie came every summer to visit. I am so happy that some of us were able to visit with MaryKay when she came to Minnesota in June of 2023.
Rest in Peace my special cousin.
So many memories of summer visits in St.Cloud , Minnesota. Sleeping out in the tent with all the girl cousins!
