Delmer Scott Jr.
09/23/1956 — 02/18/2026
From Richland, WA
Delmer Scott Jr.
Delmer Scott Jr. died peacefully in his home on February 18, 2026. He was well-loved and well-cared for by his spouse Cheryl and supported by both Heartlinks Hospice and the skilled team from Nuclear Care Partners.
Delmer (Del) will be remembered and missed for his steady loyalty, quick wit, and deep devotion to those he loved. He was a devoted and loving husband, excellent mentor, writer/poet, and a health-conscious man. Del was a definite enthusiast of motorcycles, music, and road trips. He gave generously of his time by volunteering at the Tri-Cities Annual Boat Races, the Portland Race Track, and as Range Master at the Rattlesnake Mountain Shooting Range.
Del was born in Anacortes, WA on September 23, 1956. He was raised in Pasco and graduated from Pasco High School in 1974 and WSU in 1979. Del retired Dec. 31, 2021 from Washington River Protection Systems after 34 years at Hanford and 3 years at the Nevada Test Site.
Del and Cheryl married at Richland’s Howard Amon Park on October 5, 2006, after meeting in 2003. For 22 years, they shared an enjoyable marriage and friendship as true co-pilots and the loves to each other. They had no children. Del was also extremely fortunate to enjoy many great friends and life-long school mates.
Although his retirement years were unexpectedly marked by Parkinsons and related illnesses in 2022, Del faced each challenge with determination and grace. He kept active in Rock Steady Boxing, exercising, reading, playing pickleball, and savoring time with friends and family.
Del’s kindness, delightful humor, and unwavering love will continue to guide those who were fortunate to know him. His legacy is one of dedicated love, laughter, and strength — a life well-lived and well-shared.
Del’s family wishes to thank the many friends, caregivers, and companions who compassionately walked alongside him on this final journey, especially Nuclear Care Partners homecare and Heartlinks Hospice.
Del is survived by his loyal life co-pilot/spouse Cheryl, and his mother Sharon and stepfather Paul Lawson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Einan’s at Sunset on Saturday April 18th at 1pm, where stories about Del are welcomed.

Del was truly a gentle giant. He showed grace, knowledge and positivity as he worked at Hanford overseeing his staff of project managers. We were blessed to work with him.
Rest in peace my friend. We had many memories together over the years and you will be missed. See you on the other side.
