Dorothy Eugenia Van Maren
Dorothy Eugenia “Jeanne” Van Maren passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on February 8, 2026—just one day after celebrating her 90th birthday—where she was reunited with the love of her life, Donald Van Maren.
Born on February 7, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Jessie Boufford, Jeanne was the third of three children. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank, and sister, Charlotte.
In 1954, Jeanne married Don, beginning a beautiful relationship that would span nearly 61 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, devotion, and deep love for family. They raised five children—Carrie (Al) Fiedler, Lucinda (Rod) Lough, Mike (Robyn) Van Maren, David (Maureen) Van Maren, and Beth (Zachary) Grant.
Jeanne’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her five children, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Jeanne and Don made their home in Enterprise, Oregon, later moving to Walla Walla and then Richland, Washington. After Don’s passing, Jeanne spent two years in Maple Valley, Washington, and the final seven years of her life in Shawano, Wisconsin, living with her daughter Lucinda.
Jeanne had a gift for making a house feel like home. The light in her eyes and her smile brought joy and could chase away the darkest shadows. She loved tending her garden, preparing delicious meals, entertaining, and traveling with those she loved. A talented cook, seamstress, and crafter, she generously shared her skills and creativity with her family and friends.
Jeanne’s life was defined by her faith, and her love for her family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her welcoming heart, and the countless quiet ways she made life more beautiful for those around her.
In lieu of flowers and in loving memory of Jeanne, whose heart held a special place for children in need, the family requests that donations be made to Holt International. Please make a memorial gift at www.support.holtinternational.org
