Erik Schumacher

Born on July 30, 1980, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. A devoted son, loving father, loyal friend, and proud Navy veteran, Erik touched the lives of many with his humor, generosity, and unwavering loyalty. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Erik was born to Tom and Mary Schumacher and grew up in the Kennewick area, where he attended local schools and graduated in 1999. As a young man, he demonstrated a strong sense of duty and adventure, which led him to enlist in the United States Navy shortly after high school. His time in the Navy became one of the most meaningful chapters of his life. Through his service, he traveled widely, gained experiences that shaped his character, and formed friendships that would remain strong well beyond his honorable discharge. The memories he made during those years were ones he cherished deeply and often shared with those close to him.

Following his military service, Erik built his career working in the Hanford area. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the quiet pride he took in doing his job well. Colleagues remember him as someone who brought calm, capability, and good humor into the workplace.

Outside of work, Erik found his greatest peace being outdoors. He felt most at home in the mountains, where he loved to explore, cook over an open fire, and ride his ATV along rugged trails. These moments of solitude and adventure were a source of joy and renewal for him. Wherever he went, his faithful support dog, Chawka, was always by his side, a constant and devoted companion.

Above all, Erik’s greatest source of pride and purpose was his family. He leaves behind his beloved children—Aiden, Hailie, and Carlee—who were the light of his life. He treasured every moment spent with them and spoke of them often with immense pride. He is also survived by their mother, with whom he shared a commitment to raising their children with love and stability.

Erik will be deeply missed by his parents, Tom and Mary; his sister, Amy; his mother, NAthasha; and many cherished friends and extended family members who were fortunate enough to share in his life. His warmth, resilience, and kindness leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date, allowing family and close friends to gather in remembrance and honor the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
