In Loving Memory of Nancy Dee Knowlton
June 28, 1940 – February 5, 2026
Nancy Dee Knowlton, 85, of West Richland, Washington, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at Guardian Angels. Born on June 28, 1940, in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Nancy’s life was filled with beauty—both in the gardens she nurtured and the relationships she cherished. From an early age, Nancy loved spending time outdoors, helping her father with gardening around their family home. Music also played a significant role in her adolescence; she regularly played piano for both her church and school.
As a young adult, Nancy pursued her education at Western University in Bellingham and completed 1 ½ years at University of Washington. Her love of plants and people led her to a meaningful career as a Plant Nursing Customer Specialist at Woods Nursery, where her deep knowledge and warm guidance inspired countless gardeners over the years.
Nancy’s creativity flourished through quilting—a craft she not only mastered but truly elevated. As a proud member of the Tri-City Quilting Guild, she earned more than a dozen awards for her work in annual quilt shows. Her quilts were admired for their artistry, color, and heartfelt detail. Her love for gardening extended far beyond her home. She was an active member of her local gardening club and was once selected by the Tri-City Garden Association to showcase her home garden—a space celebrated for its vibrant design and thoughtful plant selection.
Nancy’s proudest moments came from her family. She treasured every achievement of her children and found her greatest joy in their presence. She is survived by: D.E. Knowlton-her loving spouse, her sons Brian and Steven her 6 grandchildren and many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Dorothy Stogsdill, and her sisters June Stevens, Barbara Harland, Joyce Smith, Rose Stogsdill, and Jo-Anne Fisher.
Internment at Sedro-Woolley Cemetery.
(She requested no rosary, vigil, visitation, or formal memorial services.)
In Lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Nancy’s memory by making a donation to a gardening, quilting, or local arts organization of your choice—causes she deeply valued.
Nancy will be remembered for her gentleness, her creative spirit, and the beauty she cultivated in every garden, quilt, and friendship. Her legacy continues to bloom in the lives of those she touched.

I am so sorry you have lost Nancy. I knew her for many years as you boys were growing up, and in later years enjoyed meeting and talking with her at Wood’s Nursery. She was such a kind person, always smiling and eager to talk about her family and mine. When I heard she had moved to Guardian Angel, I had planned to visit, but was not able to before she passed. You will miss her every day, and her presence will be felt I’m sure.
