Artheta Yvonne Maxwell, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. She was born on November 1, 1940, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Gustavus “Gus” Adolphus Peterson and Luella Iris (Burch) Peterson.

Artheta lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. A devout Christian, she was a longtime member of the Richland Church of Christ, where her faith guided her daily life and relationships. She lovingly dedicated herself as a wife, mother, and homemaker, and also served as an ESL teacher, helping others with patience and compassion.

Her faith extended beyond her local community through missionary work, as she participated in two mission trips to Peru, sharing her kindness and dedication to serving others and establishing lifelong friendships with many of the people she met there.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Larry Ray Maxwell.

Artheta is survived by her children: Dawn Maxwell, Tanya Maxwell Robirts (Daryl), and Gerald Maxwell (Dedra). She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild, all of whom were a source of great joy and pride in her life.

Artheta will be remembered for her strong faith, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and to God. Her legacy of love, service, and compassion will live on in all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at the Richland Church of Christ, 933 Thayer Drive, Richland, Washington, on April 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM. A potluck gathering will follow the service.
