Barbara Dove July 26, 1944 – March 2, 2026
Barbara passed away peacefully surrounded by her family’s love at the age of 81. Barb was a wonderful Friend, Daughter, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. The Queen of our family.
Barb was born in Greenville, South Carolina. In early childhood she lived near her grandparents and had many fond memories of them. Then she and her family went on the live all over the world in the military. During college she met her husband and love of her life and they created their own family and again she lived the military life through the Air Force. She achieved many civic accomplishments during that time. They too moved constantly and also abroad. After retiring she and her husband finally found a place to land in Washington State where they nurtured a small farm. She loved all creatures great and small which included horses, a donkey, goats, cats, dogs, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, skunks and raccoons.
A poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye:
Do not Stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
Barb is survived by her children, Jenny and Sam, grandchildren Chris [and Sammy], Doug [and Jason], great-grandchild Jack and sister Jane Weight.
Barbara was preceded by her parents, Lt. Colonel Clayton and Mary Belle Heinlen, her sister Mary Eleanor Bailey, and her husband of 56 years Timothy Dove.
Mom you are so missed. We love you.
