Edwin Alexander Goodwin, 82, of West Richland, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026.

Edwin was born on January 8, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, to Edwin Goodwin Sr. and Ruth Goodwin. He was raised in Cathcart, Washington, on one of the area’s first mechanized dairy farms, an upbringing that instilled in him a strong work ethic, practical ingenuity, and a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship. As a young man, Edwin enjoyed country drives and photography, interests that reflected his love of the outdoors and his thoughtful nature.

In early adulthood, Edwin’s curiosity and adventurous spirit led him to pursue flying lessons and develop a passion for sailing. He also found great joy in salmon and steelhead fishing-pastimes that brought him peace and connection to the natural world.

Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Navy for three years during the Vietnam era. That service remained a meaningful chapter in his life and shaped his deep sense of duty, perseverance, and quiet patriotism.

A master carpenter by trade, Edwin was self‑employed and took great pride in his work. Among his proudest professional accomplishments was building five high‑quality family homes, each reflecting his meticulous attention to detail, problem‑solving mindset, and commitment to excellence. He was known for always seeking solutions and finding ways to improve whatever task stood before him.

Family was at the heart of Edwin’s life. He found great satisfaction in gardening, often providing food for his loved ones and sharing the fruits of his labor. His strong Christian faith guided him throughout his life and was a source of comfort and strength.

Edwin had lived in West Richland for the past three years.

He is survived by his wife, Vanda Goodwin; his sons Christopher Goodwin (Katrina) and their daughter Caitlyn Goodwin, Gregory Goodwin (Elizabeth); their children, James Goodwin, and Isabella Goodwin; and his siblings John Goodwin, Marie Falter, and Tim Goodwin. He was deeply cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Goodwin Sr. and Ruth Goodwin.
