Richard “Dick” McLean
Richard L. (Dick) McLean, 80, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026, at his home in Yuma, AZ.
Richard was born in Yakima, WA November 7, 1945, to Lyle and Helen (Hayes) McLean. He was blessed with two older sisters, Shirley and Eva, and a nephew, Byron, who have preceded him in death.
Dick attended and graduated from Highland High School in Cowiche, WA in 1964. He joined the Army that same year, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War.
Richard had an insatiable appetite for learning. His knowledge of history was created during his school years at Highland H.S. He always said he had the best teachers. His love of books began at an early age. His mother was an avid reader also. His ability to remember places and names was excellent.
While at Ft. Campbell, KY he met Linda Greer in Nashville, TN. They married July 7, 1967 and they also celebrated 58 wonderful years together. Traveling was a big part of their lives. Driving across country was a favorite way to see our beautiful country, and to spend time with family and friends. Cruising became a favorite way to travel and see more of the world.
Richard owned and operated “Ernie’s Printing” in Richland, WA from 1985 to 2004.
He was a proud member and past president (1992-1993) of Richland Rotary Club. He enjoyed the clubs community out reach programs; cleaning up dock area in Howard Amon Park, planting trees along Lee Blvd. and other projects that allowed him to work along side fellow Rotarians. He supported The Great Mid-Columbia Duck Race and was named Head Duck! This activity raised thousands of dollars for local scholarships and other worthwhile projects. These Rotary members became dear friends. Richard and Linda are Paul Harris Fellows.
One of the great things that Rotary provided Dick was the opportunity to attend Rotary International Conventions. One of those trips took him to Glasgow, Scotland. Dick was so proud of his Scottish heritage and the opportunity to go to Scotland, was a treasured experience. We visited the McLean castle, Durant, on Isle of Mull while there.
Richard’s hobbies were reading, going to movies or watching them on tv. He loved working in our yard or just being outside. He had the Green Thumb in the family. He always enjoyed time spent with friends and family.
Richard leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Linda. Nieces Bonita and Brenda, nephews Rocky and Rhett, along with a number of Great and Great Grand nieces and nephews. We can’t forget all the Cousins that Dick had in his life. Special friends are the children and grandchildren of Judy and Allen Crowner. The friends we have here in Mesa Verde have been wonderful.
Linda gives special thanks to Uni Care Hospice, Dr. Fayad, Norma, Dan, Fabian, along with Alex and Johnny of SunRise Medical.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rotary International at One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman Ave., Evanston, IL 60201 and or Uni Care Hospice, 105 W. 16th St., Yuma, AZ 85364.
Funeral and burial arrangements will be at Einan’s Funeral Home and Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland, WA.
