Donald “Coach” Alvin Detrick, born on November 7, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, passed away on July 19, 2026. He is remembered as a dedicated teacher and coach at Asotin High School, whose influence spanned over 30 years, sharing his passion for baseball and basketball with countless students and athletes. His commitment to education and mentorship left a lasting mark on the community. In recognition of his remarkable accomplishments and lasting contributions, a gymnasium was named in his honor-a tribute that stands as a lasting reminder of the profound impact he made on the lives of others and the community he so deeply served.

A proud veteran of the Army, Donald served his country with honor, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His experiences shaped not only his character but also his approach to life, instilling in him values of discipline, respect, and leadership that he carried into his civilian career.

Donald is survived by his brother Mike Detrick, “Sister in law” Charlene Detrick, son Ryan Detrick, sister Kara Johnson, brother Larry Detrick, and sister Susie Mitchell. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him. His contributions to both education and the lives of young athletes will be fondly remembered and cherished.

Donald was preceded in death by: Wife Dana Detrick and Brother Allen Detrick.
