Berniece A. Downard passed away at Beverly Health Care in Pasco, Washington and went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 9,2001. She was born to Richard and Minnie Reckner, September 2, 1913 in Burlington, Iowa. After graduating from High School she married Raymond Neil Downard in Burlington on December 8, 1934. They moved to Indiana and had one son, Richard G. Downard. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Raymond, Robert and Charles Reckner, and sister, Lillian Rice. After losing her husband to lung cancer in 1978, she moved to the Tri-Cities with her son and his family. Berniece was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was a homemaker. Berniece is survived by her son, Richard Gracie Downard of Benton -City; grandchildren Dave Bonnie Downard of Richland; Dan Melanie Downard of Quincy; Richard N. Tricia Downard of West Richland; and seven great-grandchildren Bethany, Lindsay, Dylan, Delaney, Natalie, Timmary and Kylie. A memorial service will be held at Einan's Funeral Home onTuesday August 14 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of choice.
