Christina Marilla lola McGrew Seslar, nearly 98, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 4, 2001. The family is grateful to Canyon Lakes Restorative and Rehabilitative Center for their excellent and loving care over the past few years.

Iola was born August 18, 1903, at Burwell, Nebraska, to Charles Harvey McGrew and Edna Iola Woods McGrew. She married Vernie Oscar Seslar 3/31/19 at Bridgeport, Nebraska, and they left for Wyoming next day in a covered wagon with five horses to homestead. They later returned to Nebraska to be near family where their children, Duane Vernol, Dale Laverne and Nola Joyce were born. After their children were grown, they moved to Idaho, Oregon, California, and finally Richland, Washington in 1955. Iola loved flowers, butterflies, sewing, and whistling tunes. Iola liked to make things to sell in her earlier years -- from baking bread to sewing for others. She is survived by her two sisters, Ulavee Thiessen of Milwaukee, OR, and Viletta Jessup of Bakersfield, CA; her two sons Duane and wife Opal Seslar granddaughters: Wanda Piper great grandsons Herman Myers Jr., Duane and Kenneth Myers, Barbara Brackenbush great grandsons Brian and Michael Thomas and Donna White great granddaughters Nichole Lindberg and Crystal White of Richland, W A; and Dale and wife Millie Seslar of Mechanicsville, V A, granddaughters Daylon McCarty of Southern Shores, NC, great grandchildren Kim Love of San Francisco, Jennifer Brit ton, and Amy Price and Kathy Dickens of Seneca, SC great grandchildren Nicole and Jonathan of Seneca, SC, and Thomas of Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Iola was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie, in 1957, and daughter Nola Joyce Chappell, in 1983. Grandchildren include Claude Wynn Chappell of Zigzag, OR great grandchildren Claude Willie and Barbara, Joy Darlene Judkins of Oregon City, OR great grandchildren Scott Judkins and Cynthia McKinney and Verna Okell of Portland, OR. There are numerous great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at Einan' s Funeral Home, Richland, Washington, at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday August 8th, 2001. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
