EINAN'S FUNERAL HOME

Clair Francis Setbacken, 79, of Richland, passed away on September 12, 2001 at Richland, Washington.

He was born to Elmer and Opal Setbacken on September 19, 1921 in Wessington, South Dakota.

Clair was a resident of Washington State for 70 years and worked as a Project Engineer for G.E. and Westinghouse until retiring. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the United Protestant Church.

Clair defined the word perfectionist and consistently brought excellence to every facet of his life. In his career, Clair was the man they would look to when a seemingly unsolvable problem needed a solution.

He had a highly creative mind as well. He invented many award winning original design concepts. Clair's highest achievement was his ability to teach and share his knowledge openly with his co-workers, friends and family.

Clair was a devoted husband and father. He was always there for his children with unconditional love and support. He will be missed greatly by many, especially his family, who will no longer be able to pick-up the phone and say, ''Dad, it sounds like this. What do you think I should do?'' Thanks Dad, we love you.

He is survived by son, Gary Setbacken Celeste of Cave Creek, AZ, daughter, Gail Carter Ken of Prosser, WA, daughter, Sharon Miller Matt of Hermiston, OR, son, Mike Setbacken of Richland, WA; granddaughters, Tiffany Roberts Bryan of West Richland, WA, April Setbacken of Richland, WA; grandsons, Clair Carter and Cooper Carter both of Prosser, WA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marget, daughter, Marcia Setbacken and brother, Vance Setbacken.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on October 5, 2001, in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-City Cancer Center, 7350 W. Deschutres Ave. Kennewick, WA 99336.
