Jonas Joe Hulse
Jonas Joseph Joe Hulse, age 81, died Wednesday, September 4, 2001, at Grandview Healthcare Center following complications from a long battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born December 28, 1919, in the town of Miller, Arkansas, to the late Albert Hulse and Hester Dial Hulse. Joe attended Miller Grade School and graduated from Heber Springs High School in 1937. While attending the University of Arkansas, he was drafted into active service in March of 1942 and was honorably discharged in February of 1946. Joe served as a mechanic in the U.S. 8th Army, in the 3030th Company, 125th Battalion, during WW II. He was in North Africa and Italy Theater throughout the war. On April 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Jewell Ghent Love in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
In 1953, along with other extended family members, Joe came to Richland from Arkansas to work at Hanford. He was employed for 30 years with the United Nuclear Company UNC working in the 300 Area Fuel Fabrication Division and retiring in 1985. Joe was a member of Richland Heights Baptist Church where he served as choir director, on the church council for several years, and as an usher for many years.
Jonas Joseph Hulse is survived by his wife, Jewell and five sons: William and Jeanne Love, Philip and Fran Love, Gary and Nancy Hulse, Joe Stephen Hulse, and Chris Hulse; grandchildren, Bill Love, Julie Love Becker, Scott Love, Denise Schwin, Jennifer Tulloch, Rudy Hulse, and Linea Hulse; great-grandchildren, Jessica Schwin, Trevor, Andrew and Grace Love, and Joshua Johnson. Jonas Joseph Hulse has one brother and sister in-law, Dennis and Marejo Hulse El Paso, TX. Nieces, nephews, and many other relatives further survive him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2001, at Einan's Funeral Home, Richland Washington, with the Rev. Larry Baysinger, officiating. Graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens to follow the funeral with V.F.W. Military Honors. Relatives and friends are welcome at Einan's Funeral Home, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m.
We would like to thank all of the staff of the Grandview Healthcare Center as well as the Sunnyside Community Hospital for the loving care that they provided our father and for their support in his final days.
