Carol Wentz Doriss

Carol Athene Wentz Doriss passed away on January 21, 2002, at Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco. She was born on April 14, 1917, in Ames, Kansas, the youngest of five children born to Merton and Jennie Wentz.

Carol married Clinton P. Clint Doriss on February 5, 1944, at the First Methodist Church in Salt Lake City, UT. While dad was stationed in India with the Army 1944 to 1946, mom worked for E.I. Dupont at Hanford. She was also a member of the Richland Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

During the 1950s through the 1970s, mom and dad enjoyed square and round dancing, frequently attending festivals and retreats throughout the Pacific Northwest. Clubs they belonged to included the Horse Heaven Howlers, Prairie Shufflers, and the Benton City Hoedowners, for which dad was the caller.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Carol frequently worked ''behind the scenes'' on Richland Light Opera Company RLOC musicals, selling tickets and/or making costumes.

Carol was preceded in death by her brother Hilary Wentz and two sisters Fern Kilner and Bernice Delforge.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clint Doriss of West Richland, WA; daughter Pat Bill Trimble of West Richland, WA; son Jim Linda Doriss of Beaverton, OR; and four grandchildren: Stacy Jim Epperly of Kennewick, WA, Robyn Trimble of West Richland, WA, and Kristi and Kevin Doriss of Beaverton, OR. She is also survived by two sisters: Frances Miller of Milwaukee, OR, and Wilma Egger of Marion, IL, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol's family wish to thank Drs. Intravartolo, Pillai, Hazel, Gaviria, Trzcinski and Monteilh, as well as Ms. Barbara Strote, Ms. Karen Sommerville, and the TCU nursing staff at Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco.

Private graveside inurnment was held on Sunday, January 27, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, Pastor David Parker officiating.

Memorial contributions in Carol's name can be made to the Richland Senior Center, 500 Amon Park Drive, Richland, WA. 99352.

Family, friends, neighbors, square dancers, and coworkers of Carol's family are invited to join them in celebrating Carol's life on Saturday, February 9, 2002, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Richland Senior Center's Activity Room.
