  • Dear Joyce, Emily, Buddy and Families. We share your sadness at the loss of your mom/Mamagene. We have wonderful memories of great times we had through the years. I’ll always remember what a wonderful cook she was and how much she loved making special things for the family. One holiday in Richland, we decided to make everyone’s favorite pie. I do not remember how many it was but several! Everyone was happy. And those card games! She did love to play and she was very good too! I’ll always remember her sweet smile and the love she showed for everyone. Our heart goes out to each of with love and our deepest sympathy. Love, Aunt Carrie & Uncle Harvey

  • Hello Joyce, Emily and Buddy,

A long and remembered life has just ended on earth for Aunt Emogene.

I have thought of her and Uncle Ed many times and those thoughts have always been joyful.

We have never lived very close to each other for long periods of time but I think you could say the same for most relatives.

I always think of the old song “But We Moved On” but not to far that we couldn’t visit.

I had many good old fashion whippings at the gin table. When Uncle Ed and Emogene first moved to Andalusia I was in high school. If it rained I could not play football so I would run to your house for a gin lesson. The loser had to wash the dishes. This continued on most visits and guess who washed the most dished. I did.

After Delores and I married, we changed some of our losses because we changed games to bridge. I can still remember Ed’s sly way of opening a bid when he didn’t have good cards, he wouldn’t bid one of a suit, he would just inkle a spade or club.

There are so many things that I remember and could say but time and space do not permit, but there is one thing you can be sure of, Emogene was a friend to everyone she met, some of us went to her home and stayed a few days, then there were others that just couldn’t leave.

God has blessed you with a loving Mother that you can be proud of for the rest of your life.

When next we meet we will reminisce.
