William Boersma
William Boersma was born to Andrew and Evelyn Boersma on September 9, 1925, in Wapato, Washington. He passed away February 13, 2002, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA.
He married Elizabeth Betty Bohn of Baker City, Oregon on December 24, 1946. They celebrated 55 years of marriage last Christmas Eve.
Bill is survived by many loving family members: his wife, Betty Boersma of Connell, Washington; daughter, Mary Chandra of Garden Grove, California; sons, Jim and Susan Boersma of West Jordan, Utah and William A. Boersma deceased; adopted daughter, Cindy and Mark Guenther of Connell, WA; grandchildren, Richard and Marci Muhlbeier of South Bend, Indiana, Rajeev Chandrasekaran of Pinole, CA, David Boersma of Spokane, WA, Amanda and Tim Olsen of West Jordan, UT, Stephanie Scrak of Spokane, WA; brothers, Andrew and Jean Boersma of Ephrata, WA and Bob and Betty Lou Boersma of Othello, WA; and sister, Ruby Sampson of Olympia, WA
Bill farmed most of his life, carrying on his family heritage and following his father to settle in the Columbia Basin when irrigation was introduced. But his first love was the trucking business, and he always found a way to incorporate that into his work. When he moved from the farm to Connell, he drove dump truck for the Franklin County crew.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at Gideon Lutheran Church in Connell at 2:00 pm.
Bill &Betty were wonderful neighbors. His friendly and humorous nature were very welcoming to us during our time in Connell. We express our condolences to Betty & his family.
Betty & Family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. God be with all of you and comfort you. Donna Seely
I enjoyed working with Bill at Franklin County. He was a kind caring friend. He will be missed.
