Leona Wood was born to George and Margaret Hummels, on a 168 acre farm home in Prophetstown, Illinois on February 4, 1917 and died in Kennewick, WA on April 3, 2002. Her father died in 1918 during the flu epidemic and her mother died 20 years later.

Leona was one of nine children, five girls and four boys. Three sisters and three brothers have preceded her in death. Those who remain are Helen Hummels of Seattle, WA and George Hummels of Bartonville. IL. On December 1, 1946, Leona was married to Wesley Wood. He preceded her in death in 1983.

Leona’s life has always revolved around her love of music, family and friends.She blessed all who knew her with friendship and love.

Graveside services will be held Monday April 8, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at Evergreen Cemetery, Benton City, WA.
