Harvey M. Parris
06/22/1926 — 08/25/2002
From Richland, WA, US | Born in Hale Center, Texas
Harvey M. Parris
HARVEY M. PARRIS Einan's Funeral Home
Harvey went to be with the Lord, unexpectedly, Sunday, August 25, 2002 at home with his wife, Carrie.
He was born on June 22, 1926 to Charles & Elizabeth Parris and spent his childhood in Hale Center, Texas. In 1944 the family moved to Port Orchard, Washington. After completing apprenticeship in pipefitting at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard at Bremerton, he went to work in construction for the Corps of Engineers in Ephrata. In 1947 he moved to the Tri-Cities to assist our country's war effort that was just getting underway with major construction projects at Hanford. He transferred to Hanford Operations with General Electric in 1954. In 1972, Harvey and Carrie moved to North Carolina to take over a restaurant business, which they operated successfully for eight years. They moved back to the Tri-Cities in 1980, when Harvey returned to construction work at Hanford as a pipe fitter until his retirement in 1986.
Harvey married Carrie Nichols on November 24, 1949 after meeting in the Tri-Cities, and they were blessed with a son, Len, in 1951.
Harvey was an active member of Richland Baptist Church, and in later years contributed much to the Seniors Activities through caring for others, visiting sick and shut-ins, travel, and games. His zest for life, exuberance, happy and outgoing spirit made Harvey a ''sought after'' companion of many.
An important event in Harvey's life was the special recognition of his 50th wedding anniversary with Carrie in 1999, hosted by their son and his family.
Harvey is survived by his wife and companion of 53 years, Carrie; his son, Len and wife, Jane, and cherished grand-daughter, Meghan of Seattle; sister, Mary Alice Timm and husband, Richard of Seattle; brother-in-law Charles Harris and wife, Betty of Roseburg OR; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm, and Thursday from 8 to 9 am at Einan's Funeral Home. The memorial service will be Thursday at 11 am at Richland Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests gifts may be designated to the Seniors Ministry at Richland Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
Aunt Carrie,Len,Janie and Meghan–We celebrate the life that Uncle Harvey lived and in knowing the depth of joy, pride and immense love he had for you and all of us, we are also saddened beyond words. His deeds of kindness, his tireless energy, his words of wisdom, and his honest direct words of correction were love gifts to us all. In spirit, we are with you and long to be there. We love you, Betty and Bobby
Carrie, we are so thankful that we were able to be with you, Harvey and Len at the Maddox Family Reunion in Gulf Shores this past July. What a special time we had. One thing for sure, when ever Harvey was with you, you were going to have a wonderful time. His wonderful smile, laugh and terrific sense of humor made you want to be a part of his life. We have been richly blessed and made better by knowing this kind loving man. He will be missed by so many. Our daily prayers will continue to be with you. We Love You. Bill and Kay Kendrick
Aunt Carrie;
I could not attend the funeral but want you to know how much you and Uncle Harvey meant to me. Many of my childhood memories of family are of Harvey teasing me and Dixie. I now carry on the tradition with my nephews and niece pulling the exact same stunts on them that Uncle Harvey did to me.
Carrie, We are praying for you!
Dear Carrie and Family:
There will never be another Harvey — so full of love, fun and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed but oh what memories too cherish. You’re in our prayers. Love ya, Faye & Larry

Dear Carrie,
My parents, John and Ruth Maddox have spoken so highly of Harvey. I’m sure we met when I was a boy. Since we are here teaching school on an Air Base in England we couldn’t come to the last family reunion that you were at. We will be praying for you and family. What a joy it is to us to know that Harvey knew the Lord as his Saviour. We will see him one day in heaven.
Your are in our prayers,
John and Kathy Maddox
Dearest Carrie and Len, I wish I could be there but know I’m there is spirit. My love to all. Emma
