Colleen Renee Mohr
Her Lord Jesus Christ called Colleen Mohr home on Sunday morning, November 17, 2002. She passed away quietly at home in Benton City following a long struggle with breast cancer. Colleen was an inspiration to many and a steadfast witness for the Lord. She is the mother of two fine Christian children, Amber and Austin Mohr and, a Grandmother to Casey. She was a faithful and loving wife to her husband Carl. Everyone who knew her will fondly remember her for the joy she found in life and her cheerful smile.
Colleen was born in Fairbanks Alaska on October 2, 1957, the second child of Jim and Ginger Burton. She had one brother Robert. Her father was a career enlisted man in the U.S. Air Force, who was stationed in many locations throughout the world. His family accompanied him to many bases in the United States and in Japan. He retired as a Master Sergeant to Sunnyside Washington when Colleen was sixteen. It was there on November 8, 1975, that she married Carl, her husband of twenty-seven years.
Colleen dedicated her life to the service of God in many activities in church, the Eastern Washington Walk to Emmaus, and as a Sunday School teacher. She worked with special children as a teachers assistant throughout her adult life. Most recently, she was employed at Sacajawea Elementary School in Richland Washington. She lived in the Tri-City area since 1976.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m., at Columbia Community Church, 150 Gage Blvd., Richland Washington.

I will miss Colleen and all her wonderful attributes. She was always looking at everything through Jesus’ eyes and wasn’t ever affraid to tell about her Lord. I respected this so much about her. I wish that I could be as open as Colleen was. She was a very loving and caring person, always there to give me a big hug or a word of encouragment through my life of ups and downs. She was my first friend in Life Unlimited and helped Neal and I feel so comfortable in our beginning life together at church functions. When you’re new, that is someone you want beside you, and she was! Through my time of loosing Scottie, she was always there to talk and I knew I could tell her anything. When Jonathan was born, that was the starting of her courtship with him! She always tried to steel a kiss and often giving him gum to get that kiss! He remembers her through that. During her chemo, surgeries and everything, she never lost her love for the Lord. Her disposition and attitude was one that always amazed me. She was the one who comforted everyone that came to see her! I learned a lot from Colleen. Thank you so much for letting me part of her life, not only during the good time, but at the end too. I felt very honored to be able to give back a token of what Colleen has done in my life. I can picture Colleen in heaven, sitting with all the children surrounded by her, her arms open wide, playing games with them, reading to them, restling and just having fun. I know the day that Scottie gets there, she will be there with arms stretched out to greet him. Thank you God for giving us Colleen! She will never be forgotten.
Carl and family–We count Colleen among our friends and have for many years since meeting you both at TC3. What a great lady!! We know she fought long and hard. Great to have all of you and God with her the whole way. She will be missed, but she’s in a great Place. Don and Kathy Parks Steph, Chris, Kelly
The thought of Colleen makes me smile.
We called her Burt in high school.
She taught me how to count to 10 in Japanese.
We road horses, we talked for hours upon hours and laughed until it hurt!
She had amazing communication skills with her parakeet, Bue, spelling? That crazy bird would preen Burts eyelashes while sitting on her nose, he would sit on her cereal bowl in the morning to eat breakfast with her, pecking at the Cheerios floating in milk and even returned to her after having escaped to the great outdoors one day.
She cried with me when I was at her home and heard my brother had been killed.
Colleen and Carl had true love. Their courtship, wedding and life together are proof of this.
Colleen was a great person wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a multitude of roles to a multitude of people.
She will be tremendously missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Please keep Colleen’s bright light in your in your hearts and soles.

Carl, Amber, Austin and Family,
Our family’s thoughts and prayers go out to all of you during this difficult time. Although Colleen is no longer physically with us, she is still with us spiritually. She will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts.
Colleen was one of the most special friends one could ever have. Her caring and kind ways were an inspiration to all. No matter what challenges she was facing at the time, she always found the strength to comfort others who were in need. I know this well, as she was there for me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. Even though she was fighting her own battle at the time, she shared her exceptional faith, positive outlook and wonderful sense of humor with me. Because of this, I was able to face my own battle with this ugly disease with optimism and a sense of peace. I will always remember her loving support as I continue my fight.
Colleen also touched my own children’s lives. David and Julianne have fond memories of her from when they were students at Sacajawea. They loved talking to and joking around with her. They remember the times Colleen invited them to ride horses with Amber and Austin. They will truly miss her, but they know they were blessed to be thought of as her friends.
I will always be thankful for the privilege of knowing and loving Colleen. The years I worked with her at Sacy were some of my best years in teaching. Her gift of working with children was truly inspirational. She touched many children’s lives in such a positve way. What a gift she was to education!
Colleen will be deeply missed, but never forgotten!

No words can express the sorrow we feel for you.
I will never forget Colleen’s postive attitude and smiles. She was a wonderful help to Tami and I and all the members in 4-H years ago. We were lucky to have known her briefly.

We cannot remember Colleen without remembering her smile and that *twinkle* in her eyes. We are certain that Colleen is indeed one of God’s favorite children, and deservedly so. She was a walking testimony to her faith and her God.
She will be deeply missed.
Sincere condolences to her family.
